So it’s a party. And also we are done with the single-panel 800×600 format. In theory it was great. In fact, I found it a bit limiting, and the benefits of more updates didn’t ultimately materialize. However, one thing I did like was the added definition of larger images, so we will be compromising. The new pages will be in standard comic page ratio, but will be 800×1200, allowing for larger graphics and more detail. Nonetheless, here we are – and it’s happy – but farrr from the ending, muahahahaaa…
It took me a while to find Zona and Mentl in the background. But, oh yes, it’s far from the ending. Mentl has to get back to work!
Looking at this makes ME happy! Thanks!!
Oh, BTW – if you are one of the benighted souls who has not yet seen this wonderful viral thing:
Glad to see there was time for a roof-raising celebration on teh L.A.-side of things before jumping back into the serious sh¡†. Hopefully there will also be time for an Erogenian celebration, although there will certainly be more than a few Erogenian hearts that will feel the loss.
Can I NEVER escape this song?!
Tula is wearing pink socks and dancing with Zero. Looks like she’s having fun!
She does seem to have started to take part in the ‘hair through body’ thing Mentl and Zona likes to do. I suggest you take a look at that when you have time, Jed.
I hope Nan is there somewhere, in a way she brought them together.
And, I hope I’m wrong but I get a sudden sense of foreboding as to whom may crash this shindig…
Isn’t that Nan in the white dress? I thought Nan wore wigs. Sigh this might mean another archive read-through… The Zona archive is as bad or worse than TV Tropes for sucking time from a day.
Yeah, just checked. She wore two different wigs at least in the time we saw her. I pegged that as Nan with a blonde wig when I first read it.
You are correct.
I did hear about the song. That it is a rather famous plagiarism of less known hit girls walk all day. But I guess the only important thing is if music gets into ear.
@Isoner – No, never, ever. This mindworm will dwell in your brain until the end times. Love this page JED! Nice to see the gang kicking back and having some fun. They need to store up all the happy memories for the bad times to come.
The adult version of “If you’re happy and you know it…”
time for a party
I like the song but I have a problem with the line “if you feel like a room withouth a roof” What does that even *mean*? AFAIC a roofless room is not a good thing.
In a room without a roof, the sky is the limit! There is no glass ceiling in that room to hold you back. In another story I read, by another excellent story teller, there was a man who wanted to retire from the world. He put a sign on his front door “Now leaving the asylum.” He also had a bowl from the society to save the humans.
But you get rained on! And snow! And wind! Not buying it!
Eeesh… No. No, I wont make a comment in poor taste. I’ll try to remain
neutral on this. +1 for the party, everybody needs down time.
Due to intensive (european) radio play-listing, this record, and several others have started to make me grind my teeth whenever they come on.
I’ve even turned the radio off a few times it’s that bad.
Not the song’s fault, nor the artists… just the way it is.
What do you mean, not the song’s fault? It’s certainly not the pretty unremarkable melody that makes me want to throw up when it comes on the radio (which is far too often). Nope, it’s the text. (And that viral video is so utterly boring, it would never have become viral if they hadn’t done 24 hours of it. Marketing over quality.)
I hadn’t heard that song before, not having watched any of the Despicable Me movies. The melody or rhythm of the part shown in the panel reminds me, though, of another song I heard long ago, but I can’t recall its name.
“I hadn’t heard that song before, not having watched any of the Despicable Me movies.”
John, I’m not a huge movie goer, but I can tell you that you’re short-changing yourself. Get the videos!
BOTH of the “Despicable Me” movies were wonderful. I love ‘em.
Ah – no song will ever equal “Walking on Sunshine” (by Katrina and the Waves) for pure ‘happy-making’ dancing. Maybe not great music, but you couldn’t help but smile and move your feet – or at least wiggle your butt if in traffic.
Beautiful party! The song choice, I guess, is in part to let as many band members as possible free to dance. I guess next number will be in the same vein from Bobby McFerrin.
calisto and Lebbrin: when I saw this page this afternoon, I wondered where she was. Since I was busy, I pushed the question aside for some time. Going back to it now, I theorized that the blonde in the white dress should be Nan. Thanks for confirming.
