  1. Heh. I once knew a code-monkey like Astria who typed instructions into a compiler, but didn’t actually know what was going on under the hood. As I recall, he said, “I’m a really good programmer, but I don’t know anything about [floating point]”.

    1. Tiff, that’s a bit like me. I’ve been doing my job as a Tech Support Rep for years by just knowing the “if-then-go-to” issues, knowing the problems and their solutions, but not always understanding the underlying engineering.

      Warm regards,

  2. “her robe revealing a bit more than modesty would demand.”

    You don’t say? 😀

Now, we get to see what Yano’ meant when she said that Laemul wasn’t always chaste and all. 😛

Did her royal husband know that she was the chaser, by the way? And how did he react to it, pray tell?

    1. Reservist, Princess Yanora is nineteen at this point in history, and not yet married to either of her two husbands. Kendrik was actually a little younger than Yanora when they married, and not yet king.

And her appetites did, indeed, cause some drama between Yanora and both her royal husbands. Some day you’ll see that played out, as well.

      1. You already mentioned that one of her ?3? previous stays in the tower was because she was unfaithful right after her wedding.

Also your home page has had an error for some time, undefined variable: home_layout

  3. I like younger Yano’s looks, by the way.

    1. Thanks, I was hoping you all would.

      1. Come to think about it, JED, since since the character of brother/friar Laemul was inspired by Cadfael, may we assume that, like the Welsh detective monk , he has had at least one son or daughter that he still doesn’t know of? :-3

        P.S.:
It’s not original, but it’s true : thank you for your work, mate. 😉

  4. It’s been so long since I last could take the time to comment, so first, a (belated) happy new year to one and all, and very warm thanks to JED for keeping up with this wonderful story!

Also, I like the script. As Reservist pointed out, the captions are great fun.

And I’m very glad we get to see more of Laemul, who’s one of my favorite characters!

It seems we won’t be seeing Astria again anytime soon. More’s the pity, because she looked like a very interesting characters… erm, I mean character. But as an apprentice, I’m not sure she’s a great loss; last page I missed the opportunity to say that someone who not only finishes their potential master’s sentence but gets it wrong may prove troublesome as a pupil.

Last, nice to see how Laemul started the affair with Yanora that she was referring to very earlier (no time to archive dive for that right now, especially as I can’t seem to find the chapter links. (No pressure, JED.) I just hope His Majesty will either not notice or take it easy on good Laemul.

    1. jd, you will be seeing Astria again – and maybe sooner than you think. 🙂

Also, I included links to a couple of the relevant pages in the text of page 1207:

      https://barbarianprincess.com/comic/page-517/

      https://barbarianprincess.com/comic/page-564/

And as mentioned above, Yanora is not yet married. And she is extremely popular in court, and being her father’s darling she gets away with a lot.

      Warm regards,

      -JED

      1. Jed, I don’t know if you know, but after page 523 you have several broken pages that don’t display as well as pages posted twice. I’m sure there’s more, but I didn’t check anything beyond the gap between the links.

  5. Ah, we meet the young Yanora, too. 🙂 I’m guessing it was a good memory for both of them. It strikes me that Maldik could also have been Laemul’s if these two had a that kind of relationship; it has been hinted that Maldik might not be the King’s child and considering Yanora’s lust I wouldn’t be surprised if that was indeed the case.

  6. Lora,
By the time Maldik was born, Laemul was no longer in court, and that’s a story for another time.
    Warm regards,

    -JED

    1. And even if it were chronologically possible, one would hope ghat Laemul and Yanora’s offspring to be a bit more… intellectual.

    2. Well, I’ll look forward to the other stories as they come. 🙂
