I wonder now if “Zona” is really another ploy by Clocktits (the deepings guy hired by Shuach) to entrap Mentyl. Clocktits may have guessed that Mentyl wouldn’t fall for “dad’s” “absolutely nothing matters” schtick, and manifested “Zona” breaking him out to get him at his most vulnerable. I hope I’m wrong, and that Zona “killing” Mentyl is just the way to break him out of the state he’s in (the only way out is through?). Time will tell, and I can’t wait to see what happens next! Thanks JED!
Well, my jaw on now somewhere on the floor. Dammit, I think it rolled under my desk, finding it’s gonna be a pain, and the crud that’s accumulated under there…ugh.
Heartbreaker.
(Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
My guess: you can’t die in the Other when, even if you are physically present there. When Mentl survives, he will realize where he is and return to “reality.”
Descartes, I vote with you– because the alternative would mean this comic was largely over in terms of emotional development for both our central characters–can’t imagine JED would do THAT—-

There just isn’t a good WORD for that. Just this “HNK!” sound which I always DID write as a single exclamation mark.

Stage one – kill them through pleasure. Always leads to a tasty feed.
But if that doesn’t work…
Stage two – kill them through guilt. Doesn’t taste as sweet, but still worth it.
But if that doesn’t work…
Stage three – kill them through betrayal. Time to stop playing with the food.

Yep, JED still knows how to pull the rug out from under us. Scuse me while I try to get my jaw out of the desk.

Mentyl, like Tom Bombadil, is going to need a stronger song!

A buddy of mine in college had a girl who he asked out decline by saying, “I kill you in my dreams.”

Wow! That was like whiplash it changed so fast. I haven’t the foggiest idea what will come next.

Now, if our intrepid creator was REALLY evil, this would be a perfect time for a hiatus.
