  1. okay
Good news: The Urtt on the Dragon is not Gorsash.
Better news: It’s not Cha-cha-clan man on the Dragon (Not that he’d deign to lower himself to a front line engagement at this point (Unless Shauch willed it)
Bad news: No way this is all they’re throwing at her.

    1. No – it’s not all that will be thrown at her.

      🙂

      Warm regards,
      JED

  2. that bolt looks like it went through part of the dragon’s neck

    1. Just to the side, though dragons are pretty tough.

      Warm regards,
      JED

  3. An axe? On dragonback? No wonder the Urrts don’t win. A shortbow, sure. A crossbow, better. The polearm should stay strapped to the saddle unless or until you’re unwillingly back on the ground.

And, frankly, I don’t think a polearm is a very good skirmisher weapon. Less than ideal for a downed flyer trying to make it back to his side. Ipola is far better equipped with her bow and arrows.

Of course, there is a saying about not jostling the elbow of an enemy who is insistent upon making mistakes.

    1. Don’t like to explain usually, but look at the way he’s holding it. The axe is being used as a prod to control the mount, not as a melee weapon. (that was author’s intent, anyway) They’re new at riding these dragons, and so a bit of improvisation has happened.

      Warm regards,

      JED

      1. This is terrible and cruel. I hope the dragon will BBQ all Urrt after that.
Problem, if it is so pissed, it won’t make any difference between bad guys who tortured it or Queeny dear.
Unless of course Dragons love to feel pain… wut? Well, why not? We don’t know dragons, right?

  4. Truly powerful! My main worry? When playing DnD, if using this kind of power, your are dry out of spell.
I have no idea how it works, if she is right imbue with the power of the Moon or something. I just hope she just now completely powerless against the Urrt.
But.. yeah. Don’t piss off the Queen.

    1. Oh, excellent questions! Will they all find answers?

      Wait and see. 🙂

      Warm regards,

      JED

  5. Good news, the Urt is no longer actively controlling the dragon.
Bad news, the Urt is no longer actively controlling the dragon.

Question remains now, are these dragons the barely tamed beastly type, or are they intelligent worshippers of Shuach type.
His future attack patern and willingness to kill something that actively causes it pain might depends on it.

    1. Some intimation of an answer to what you ask will be seen in the next page.

      Stay tuned!

      Warm regards,
      JED

  6. She’s a killer queen
    Gunpowder, gelatine
    Dynamite with a laser beam
    Guaranteed to blow your mind

    1. Excellent song choice. 😀 Too bad Mentl isn’t there.

  7. Definitive proof if it was actually needed that Ipola is a LONG way from being ‘over the hill. Not exactly the classic ‘mugging the monster’ scenario but nice to see her busting a few heads.

  8. Too bad that wasn’t the main guy that let the dragons loose. I figured that you needed to be an Urtt shaman or someone special to ride a dragon.

  9. Dammit. I want her to win, and I just know you’re not going to let her, JED. Not enough drama lama ding-dong in that.

    1. Winning or losing all depends on whose perspective you take.
Happy endings are dependent on where you end the book.
      😉

      Warm regards,
      JED

  10. That Urtt dragon-rider looks rather familiar, don’t you think?
If so, then I’ve no doubt that he’ll survive, even if his ‘steed’ doesn’t.
I daresay those 2 will have quite a bit of catching-up to do.

    1. That’s not Gorshash, just a little spoiler.
And I tend to re-use the Urtt models a lot to save work. I rationalize it as the Urr-creations genetic pool is relatively small compared to other species. So yes, he looks like a lot of other Urtts.

But do attend to the plot points in the upcoming page. You won’t want to miss it.

      Warm regards,
      JED

  11. So, is Magickal ability an inherited trait? Cos I always thought Tula got hers through her father (and Zona didn’t because Zonn), but it seems she might’ve got some of it from her mother as well.

Which has the potential implications that Zona might have some latent ability, and that latent ability might’ve influenced Mentl’s proximity to her when he first arrived.

    1. Zona’s magical ability is channeled into being what Shadowrun would call a physical adept. Which may have been inherited from her father, considering what Zonn has done.

And I’m pretty sure Michael got sent where he did because that book not only has a mind of it’s own, but a sense of humor as well.

    2. Like all talents, there is a certain genetic factor. I tend to think I inherited what singing and musical talent I have through my mother’s side of the family, for instance. Nonetheless, only practice can hone a native talent. Both Tula and her mother have devoted a lot of time to their craft.

      Warm regards,
      JED

  12. Pissing off Erogenian redheads continues to be a good way to get yourself magically shredded.

    1. And there is the author’s message, as plain as day. 😀

      Warm regards,
      JED

  13. Panel 6: What are the flames on Ipola for? Is she catching fire, or is she just magically putting it out while casting the lightning spell on the dragon rider?

This is starting to look more like Black Hawk down. :-S
I hope Ipola does not end up like Randall Shughart.

    1. That is the splash from the dragonfire. There are flames on either side of her where the grass and brush caught.

And only time will show you what Ipola’s fate will be. Do keep checking back!

      Warm regards,
      JED

      1. Checking back, I will be. 🙂

  14. A two for one and a lighting bolt. Ipola is one impressive queen. 😀 Too bad she can’t make portals, because being deep inside enemy territory is unlikely to go well. (Though it would certainly be twist if she does manage to get away from the immediate attackers, but then have to sneak around unseen, spending a lot of time getting home, while everyone is worried and wondering what has happened).

    1. Yep. She didn’t fight the Urtts for 8 years of hard warfare without being a badass. 🙂

And yes, she is pretty deep in Urtt territory, isn’t she? Kind of presents a problem.
Oh, well. I’m sure it will be all right.
      Mostly.

      Warm regards,
      JED

      1. “Mostly”. Yeah, that’s what I thought. 😉 Well, you’re not getting rid of me, so I’ll stick around to see what happens.

  15. Could someone refere me to the page that says the dragons are willingly taking the Urtts as riders and/or that the dragons are on Shuachs side?

    1. We never saw the actual contract between Kor Lachnis and the dragons, but if you re-read Chapter 73 you’ll see that he has a prior relationship with Mother Dragon, at least, and was able to awaken her.

More than that you must learn as we go. 🙂

      Warm regards,
      JED
