  1. Gotta love Mentle’s facial expression in panel five. Last panel is what happens when you fuck with someone who has the abilities to cut through and otherwise manipulate across space, time, dimensions and realities.

  2. All the characters truly have a different appearance; especially Zona. That said, I hope we will see more action, now that the Urtts have launched an offensive. They have obviously learned from their previous encounters with the tribes. As has been said before, Knowledge is Power.

  3. Face———–>Smile

  4. Note to self. Moon magick can be sidestepped. Let’s hit him with flame and any other kind of magick. That should kick his gloating ass to the moon and back, all savage like. Let’s hope he doesn’t land on a garden.

  5. I love fictional consistency in subjects like magic. Allow me to contemplate why I believe Mentyl’s magic was able to “hit” the bastard and Tula and Zona could not. >AHEM< The knife throw and Tula's magic seem to have a common element. Once the knife is thrown or the spell is released it travels in a line, the caster or person throwing the knife do not direct the energy/magic or steel. Mentyl's magic (at least as I see it) doesn't do this, Mentyl is focusing on his target and the spell is meant to affect the target without traveling through the distance between the caster and the target. Gorsash was the target in Mentyl's mind and Mentyl's magic allowed or forced Gorsash to be "hit".

    1. That’s a very good take on it, sister (I seem to remember you’re feminine?). I’ll thank you for the opportunity to present mine: Gorshash has experienced Moon magic and knives, to enough extent that he can affect them with his own magic. Not so with Mentl’s enchanting, that he hasn’t had the opportunity to study even a bit.

(By the way, the smart thing would be to kill him now — I seem to remember Tula has said she would in both previous encounter with the scum. I’m assuming that even though Mentl’s enchantment was able to reach Gorshash, it was somehow attenuated — hence a painful effect and not his head exploding. So maybe they won’t have a choice. Then again, Tula might devise a way to trace Gorshash to his lair. Or Mentl might sing Blondie’s “One Way or Another”…)

(But I really like your take. Remindful of the distinction between Combat and damaging Manipulation spells in the Shadowrun editions of yore.)

  6. You have to admit, seeing different expressions and angles, the new Urrt design works, and well. Count me as a convert.

  7. Evil Overlord list rule 6: I will not gloat over my enemies’ predicament before killing them.

    1. Semi-related rules he’s having issues with:
20: Despite its proven stress-relieving effect, I will not indulge in maniacal laughter. When so occupied, it’s too easy to miss unexpected developments that a more attentive individual could adjust to accordingly.
29: I will dress in bright and cheery colors, and so throw my enemies into confusion.
61: If my advisors ask, “Why are you risking everything on such a mad scheme?”, I will not proceed unless I have a response that satisfies them.
Pervious one’s from a couple of pages ago, but if I’m compiling them all here….
64: I will see a competent psychiatrist and get cured of all extremely unusual phobias and bizarre compulsive habits which could prove to be a disadvantage.

    2. While I see your point, I’m told that it’s much less satisfying to gloat to dead enemies. They can’t cringe and rage, which is at least half the fun. Not to mention beg for mercy! What is the point of being an Evil Overlord if no one begs you for mercy?

(Again, that’s what I’m told. My only experience of being an Evil Overlord was through GMing for friends, and my antagonists tend to die soon.)

  8. And now we see why Mentle was told he would tip the balance in this war. His magic is inter-dimensional, not physical, meaning his magic can go anywhere he wants. Once he gets the hang of it he could sit in one spot, focus on his targets, and take them out while they never know where he is. Kinda like an ICBM with no travel time! I think he needs to pick a different song though while a shotgun blast is effective against a minor target this guy is a heavy hitter, “Riders on the storm” or a couple of ACDC songs come to mind.

    1. I think, in the event that Mentl ever requires a salvo, RATM’s Bullet in the Head and The Prodigy’s Shot Down could be very effective.

  9. “Maxwell’s silver hammer” – probably work real well on werewolves too. Bohemian Rhapsody is pretty direct effect too

  10. @Scarsdale
Hmm… where is that current usericon from yours from, pray tell?

  11. Another possibility for Mentl’s magic affecting Gorshash: while a lot of you people with normal hearing may forget about this, shotguns are incredibly loud. I would expect whatever magic Gorshash is using conveys sound just as well regardless of its volume, so a shotgun blast more or less right at his ear is still pretty traumatic. It’s not fatal, so he still is doing better than he could’ve been. But that doesn’t mean that he’s necessarily doing well enough to continue the fight.

Not being able to do anything about Gorshash right now would be frustrating, but being able to clean up the battle without his interference would provide a frustrating setback to Gorshash, especially if they can get the dragon to change sides. “If we have someone ride on you, we promise they won’t hurt you to try to get you to do what they want.” might be a helpful promise to make.

    1. @Some Ed I say that because he can portal to anywhere so it’s not a hard stretch to think his magic works the same way.

  12. I tapped the avatar on my Kindle Fire. It links to en.gravatar.com.

  13. OK I’m not a female but I’m a big fan of them!
secondly, Shadowrun (2nd Ed) is my Jam. Though I wasn’t consciously thinking about it before, I can’t get it out of my head now.
Last- I don’t think anyone here would be pulling punches. Thanks for the reply and Cheers mate! I owe you a beer!

  14. Shuach told Gorshash that he (Shuach) would deal with Mentl, “the one who should not be.” This hasn’t happened yet, but not for lack of trying. Could this put a dent in Gorshash’s faith?

  15. Another webtoon: “Looking for Group” I’ve had it for years. It’s an undead wizard, like the one I played in Diablo II.

    1. Sorry I meant the necromancer but close enough. I had him up to the low 90’s and was able to lead Bal runs for noobs. Haven’t played that game in YEARS!
